yes, you are right, the attitude is quite different. With live account you are responsible for money, so you become much more attentive

We should be careful whenever we are doing our trades and at times the risks are more so the best alternative is to stop doing our trades :D

yes, there are really sometimes such moments when it's really better to stop and have a rest from trading. I had such period when I almost the whole month even didn't checked currency rate. Forex is also a wokr that needs vacaitions))

As i have been trading in the Forex markets close to 5 years now i prefer to take rests during my trading and this is also a reason why i am a successful trader :D

accoding to the votes there is noone who traded on demo 3 years and only one voted for 2 years) It's really difficult for me to understand how is it possible to wait so long..) I couldn't be so patient) I starded live trading after 2 months but I continued to use demo from time to time, but seldom..

I am tempted to start a poll that asks the reverse:

How long did it take you to go from LIVE to DEMO?

I traded demo for 1-2 months, went live for about 3 months. Initially, I did OK, lost money, became profitable and then had a 15% draw-down in one night (poor knowledge, poor risk management, could not justify my trades). So I am back on demo for a month and am learning technical analysis through Forex Peace Army Military School and learning fundamental analysis and trade psychology from one of "FPA Shoulder's of Giant".

There is one phrase from Joe DiNapoli "Loss of opportunity is preferable to loss of capital". I won't go into live until I can demonstrate that I /am :
a) Consistently profitable (I will have losing trades, but overall profitable)
b) I have documentation (screen shots/short written SITREP) with defendable reasons for entering a trade (Fundamental, Technical, Emotional) and this goes for exiting a trade.
c) Have sufficiently deprogrammed myself from a purely scalping "get rich quick" mentality, but that I have the endurance to let some prolonged winning trades run and that I have defendable reasons for this. That is, trying to strike a balance.

But I agree, it is tempting, but patience will reap awards! :)

Many trader suggested at least six month, because in real account so many trader can't maintain account more than six month, hopefully with practice more than six month they can understand how good they can make sharp skill during period of time

I started directly from live account but then I realize that its not easy to earn like this. I then demo traded for 2 months and then went back to live again.

Demo account is only for getting practice and only two months are enough, no need to spend 6 months or 2 years or more, I would like to say that after spending two months on demo account, you should start the real trading.

I think how long it takes to stop trading on a demo account and move onto a live one is very depends on the individual. For some people two months might be enough, others might need a lot longer.

But you can always use demo account to test out new strategies until you feel ready to use it on a real account.
