FPA Contest #1
A little tax relief for April 15th
Note: Just so that no one jumps in too quickly, the contest entry thread will not be opened until sometime on Friday, March 28th.
Please read the rules carefully.
1. Entries: You need to predict the price of the GBPUSD to the nearest pip at 12 noon (New York Time) on April 15th (income tax day here in the USA). This should be a 5 digit number (unless you think the GBP will be worth more than 9.9999 by then). Only use 4 digits past the decimal - no 10ths of pips. If you use less than 4 digits after the decimal we will assume the remaining digits are zeros (1.93=1.9300).
2. Tie breaker: On the second line of your entry, do your best to predict the price of the EURUSD to the nearest pip at 12 noon (in NYNY) on April 15th.
In the unlikely event that there there is a tie remaining, the first entry posted will be the winner of the tie.
3. Entry format: Your entry should look like this:
GBPUSD #.####
EURUSD #.####
For example:
GBPUSD 2.1234
EURUSD 1.4321
Include
NO other information in your entry. Do not attempt to edit or delete your entry. Anyone found trying to alter or delete an entry will be disqualified. Anyone posting ways that do not match our entry format will be disqualified.
Make one and only one entry. Anyone making more than one entry will be disqualified. We are aware that occasionally, the system causes posts to be duplicated. If you have 2 or 3
identical entries within a few minutes of each other, we will erase the second one for you.
4. Data Provider: The data provider for this contest will be NetDania (
ChartStation). Their free web-based charting software that will provide us with the prices we need to determine the winners. In the event a problem occurs with this, we will announce an alternate data provider before the end of the contest.
5. Determining winners: Shortly after 12 noon on April 15th, we wll look at the opening price of the 1 hour bar for 12 noon for both the GBPUSD and EURUSD on the data provider's platform. We will then post the prices in the contests area and begin the task of determining which 3 people came closest to prediciting the price of the GBPUSD. The EURUSD data will only be used for tie-breaking purposes.
6. Where to place entries: Sometime on Friday, March 28th, an entry thread will be created and a link will be posted in this thread. Entries posted anywhere except the entry thread will be deleted.
7. Entry deadline. All entries must be posted by noon (New York Time) on Friday, April 4, 2008. Any entries made after that time will be deleted.
8. Collecting winnings: We will provide an email address where the winners may give us their PayPal account info or postal address and preferred method of payment (PayPal, Cash, Check).
9. Legal note: Since this contest involves the skill of prediciting potential outcomes of financial events, it is a contest of skill and not a random drawing. Thus, we beleive that it is not subject to rules and regulations governing random drawings.
