Cool Mrs. Trader Wife - 02-06-2010, 04:30 AM

Mrs. Trader Wife,

Honey, I know it’s 02:00 here but the Japan market is opening and it’s 08:00 there, I have to see what they are doing. You like money right, that’s what I’m doing. Go back to sleep I’ll snuggle with you at 06:00 our time.

I want to hear what the other traders have to say?
This is my 100th post. I had a hard time doing 10 to make PVT.

At the 2008 USMC Sniper reunion banquet after the toast to the Corps. I got in 1st and toasted the wives that put up with us and kept us sane and going. The next day I couldn’t count the wives that kissed and hugged me goodbye (yeah I can 23). Anyway, how do the other full time traders deal with the women factor?

Good topic Eric!

With my wife there was only one way to get her to accept the sacrifices of a 24hr market, and that was be profitable. That's really unfortunate, as it doesn't really give much of an opportunity for learning, and if any one else here has that problem you aren't alone.

The other thing that's important and works recently is to tell her in advance when major news releases are happening and that it's your 'working time' and that means you don't answer phones, you don't discuss anything, you just work. (This is a lot like your advice about setting up a desk instead of just using your laptop on the couch)
Being a trader with a woman in your life is like making two sacrifices at the same time.

I like that. Well said. The women in our lives sometimes dont understand the sacrifices we have to make as a trader. I mean look at Tiger Woods for example. Although he is a golfer, he sacrificed his life between his wife and 19 mistresses which makes a total of 20 sacrifices. Who can boast of making more sacrifices than him? And the press crucified him for being such a giving person

Ok...I fail to see the connection. Especially because it really sounds like Eric cares as much about his wife as I do about mine.

My mrs got her computer games and so I made lots of sacrifices by going to pubs, bars, trips, etc without her tagging along....and while I am here posting in FPA, and Demo trading, I have to do that without her too... But she do makes me all the meals I want, complete with tons of coffee when I want them.

Such sacrifices!!!...waah, waah, waah!

Rahman, I think you aren't fulfilling your husbandly duties:
If your wife plays computer games, then you should be playing them with her.

Mine knows that I'll totally own her, and so I can't even let her win. I keep on trying to find non-competitive games cuz I started playing before she was born.

Eric, it seems you've attracted all the romantics to this thread...

Whoooooh, cowmadagan!

I need my space….in fact, lots of it due to almost twenty years of marriage, but with frequent extended travels to project work sites. My mrs need her space too…I do my duties as regularly as she wants it…but fortunately for me, our understanding with each other is very good. My mother-in-law stays in when I am away, and leaves when I come back. So, there is perfect harmony in everywhere.
For example, it is now 1.25am and here I am posting in FPA and elsewhere, while the mrs is sleeping and will not wake me up until around noon for breakfast cum lunch. Then we spend some time together with our only daughter and a niece, and then it’s back to individual computers and in different cyber worlds.
You will see me back here tomorrow and the next….busy, busy, busy!...and life goes on, and on, and on…..But, I do love my wife and she loves me.

Gees - I applaud your effort guys, I wouldn't have even considered embarking on such an adventure with a wifey thing in tow.

Having the 'wifey thing in tow' means that there's nothing you do without including her in presence or in mind.
