Wipeout (figuratively speaking) ! Fortunately I was running this on a mini, and I had arrived at a lot size setting that was one-half of the master lot size. Today is 2 September and after the NFP Crosswind did a meltdown. I am down only $151 net on my $700 account, not counting the $29 for the trial subscription. If you ever see the name Pedro Brandoa from Portugal (the name on the Paypal account for crosswind) connected with any EA, run the other way.

2011-08-26 3Star I have been running Crosswind on an IBFX mini account (real money) August 22 through August 26. I am a US trader using 1:50 leverage. I have some observations:

1) This EA uses Signal Copy MySQL to deliver its trades. By itself, Signal Copy is a reliable product. But I am seeing significant network connectivity issues. By IP lookup, the MySQL master is in Nashville while I am in Houston. There have been at least two outages lasting several minutes recorded this week.

2) The author recommends using his exact lot size for trading, but he does not reveal the balance on the master account. The FPA account started with $15,000 and I wouldn't recommend less than that. He also doesn't reveal the leverage he is using, which I presume is 1:100 since he is not a US trader. For US traders, I recommend scaling back the lot size to account for the 1:50 leverage we must use. Therefore it is probably wise for a US trader to start with $30,000 in the account. In theory my $700 mini account behaves like a $7,000 standard account, but after watching trades for a week I am convinced this is way over-committed.

3) I am monitoring the demo trades at FPA and one other rating site. Their trades do not match exactly, and my trades don't match the trades at either demo site. They are close, but not exactly the same. I am wondering if there may be more than one CrossWind master account. Perhaps there is some other explanation since this strategy enters on limit orders, but it's hard to compare results if the trades don't match.

4) The trades were OK during most of the week, and my $700 mini account had recorded about $27.00 in profit during the week. Then Friday happened with the "Bernanke Speaks" event at 9am CDT. While both of the demo sites recorded modest profits, my USDCHF trades recorded losses greater than the week's profits when they hit their T/P (!) price. There was no connectivity problem recorded at the time. I don't know just what went wrong.

Bottom line, it's too soon to tell if there is good value here compared to other trade copiers (e.g. Genial Invest). But I think there must be a baby somewhere down in the bathwater.

Regards,

Bill
