What would be your dream portfolio tracking website?

Hi guys,

I know many of us, myself included, use myfxbook to track our forex portfolios. I've been ghosting around on FPA for the longest time and it has given me invaluable advice through my trading career, especially on the brokers to avoid.

I would like to give back to the community too by creating a portfolio tracking website that is better than myfxbook (i know, it's hard to imagine anything can be, but I'll try my best). What are some features, however radical they might be, that you've always wanted on a portfolio tracking website?

Why reinvent the wheel when its already been done. Besides myfxbook, there is also forexrazor and fxjunction and so on.

What is needed is a nice browser based tool that is like a trade journal, specifically used for understanding the trades. We all know how tedious it is to take screenshots pre/post trade, comments and so on. If you could make a tool that can make this easy it would be wonderful.

For example, if my trading system was based on 2 MA's and RSI, then first i enter my trading system with the following indicators.

Then every time I place a pending order, then via an EA (drag drop onto the symbol's chart where we placed the pending order) we should be able to capture the chart screenshot, and also be able to put in trade comments with drop down such as chart TF, signal, filter, risk/reward.

Once trade is hit, then you automatically calculate the usual stuff with option to update with comments.

Meetpips does a decent job of logging trades, but the rest of the stuff mentioned has to be manually entered. So if you can make it a bit easier, i'm sure traders will love it.

That's a very good suggestion, I was actually building a trade journal feature on the site too but this really expands on it a lot, never saw it from such an angle. So what you are suggesting is to have an EA that automatically captures what is on your chart and upon selecting a function of the EA (such as "screenshot") it transfers everything from that page over to your journal with a new entry? Do you want the comments to be typed in on the EA itself or on the website directly?

Thanks for the feedback, helps me understand what people are looking for better :)

Thanks for the feedback, coincidentally, I am developing a trade journal side of the website too and this is indeed valuable feedback that I can use for it. Certainly have to put my development on hold as I explore this new insight.

Anyway, that is a good suggestion. Are you suggesting an EA that captures everything that is on your MT4 by perhaps selecting an option called "screenshot" and from there, it transfers the screenshot straight to the website, which allows you to use various tools to comment/annotate/explain?

You got it.

So you have a kind of hierarchy
Trading system (Brief explanation of the system)
Indicators (what indis are used)
EA to capture the screens upon entry/exit
The usual analysis (risk/reward/drawdown, etc)
Option to publish the trade entry or ignore it (refer to meetpips on this one)
Comments, etc

Nice to have:
During the trade period, any economic news releases (would be amazing to see how the prices react and if the trading system is able to consider these moments of unpredicitability)

That's a really good idea. I would like to suggest similar things as quicksilver.

galaxy,
will you offer it for free as well?

sounds like an interesting endeavor. You must be a programmer.

MAs - Moving averages. RSI - Relative Strength index. These are built into MT and most other charting software.
