how long to stay on demo

well that's the thing... i stayed on demo for a very short time, not because i was good, but because i quickly realized there was no real sting of pain when losing fake money... i just couldn't bring myself to care. so an important teacher was not present, which prompted me to move on to using real cash and of course losing it, ,again and again, until the pain would become unbearable and until suddenly i would learn my lesson, bring down the walls of insanity inside my psyche that were putting obstacles on the path to success. it was that or more pain. when faced with that kind of choice, unless you enjoy pain, you quickly learn to reduce said pain.

bottom line: pain is a great teacher. ask any buddhist monk. ;-)

that is why i'd recommend to start with a live account ASAP, after of course, learning the technical basics on demo first.

This is absolutely correct. Unfortunately, only after "real" losses you can start to understand how difficult the emotion management is.

i went on live after two months of demo, but i think now that was too early, if i can suggest, i think now not less then 4 months

If you're completely inexperienced, yes it is the minimum. However, even in the live version you should always start with a low leverage.

Definitely! Learning to use leverage properly makes all the difference in forex.

I was on demo for about four months, but now that i've experienced that i can suggest to stay more ;)

Yeah agree. Also with small lots and proper money management to eliminate risk.

In addition to leverage, a proper money management is quite important. The trade must have a risk / reward ratio of at least 2:1 at the opening time.
