You are looking for a mentor. I guess if you still haven't found one , it's good that you joined us here at FPA cos I'm a newbie as well and all of my anwers and inquiries are all answered here through the forums. Good luck to your trading! ;)

Yes, I agree with vans22 laila, why not start here in FPA. You can ask questions from other traders here, and it's up to you to weigh their ideas and perspective about how the way they trade.

Laila,

Your best mentor is YOU!

Here's a start in self-mentoring -- buy yourself the book "Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets", by John J. Murphy. Read and understand the material in that book, at least the 1st 10 chapters or so. This will give you a good handle on the basics of chart reading, candlesticks, and much more. I have found this book an invaluable asset.

Then, you can read the Forex section on Investopedia.com:

Welcome to Investopedia.com

There is also a wealth of information on the various trading systems, technical indicators and other related information on that site.

Then, go to TheCollectiveFX.com and open a free demo account. They are not accepting new clients, but you get a free demo account anytime you want. Use the account to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

The best advice I ever got on trading: buy low, sell high.

Works for me! ;)

i would suggest that anyone who are currently looking for good mentors would just make a self education by their selves. there are lots of ways to make use of trading. self reliant would be better. taking advices from people is good as well. but it is still on your hands how to make things in a right track.

Hmmm, good point elah. Final decision is yours, traders. :p

That is a good book, and Amazon has several good ones as well. Do yourself a favor, though, and stick to one thing at a time. I have a tendancy to overload myself with information, and as a result, I haven't been as focused as I could be. If you want to demo some strategies, don't give up after a week or two. The forex lifestyle is about consistency, and it is not fair to judge anything after just a few days.

Can I quote you on that?

That's a good set of advice.

Self Education is Good

Self Reliance is Good

A Trading System is Essential

A Good Mentor is Hard to Find

Experience is the Only Teacher
