How long to demo and when to invest

I’ve spent quite a lot of time practicing on a demo account about 6 months in total then moved to opening a small account to practice trading with actually money. When did you feel comfortable enough to invest a substantial amount into trading ?
Until you are confident enough that your strategies are perfect and you are not going into losses on your demo account.

It is night when you are making consistent profit on real account with small investment you can decide well how much more time or practice is desired to handle with some big amount. One should gradually increase the capital that will give you confidence and security and you will not become much greedy at once by investing a high amount. Your own trading and experience is a best decision maker for you for further investments.

I think that you have to go away from demo as fast as you can in case you stay there more than half a year for example, because it can cause you bad consequences, you know. There are some real issues with demo is that traders often get used to it and don't want to go on a real accounts because they're quite comfortable with demo conditions. Of course you aren't able to feel such emotions as you feel on a real account, however you are able to learn trading properly, you will test your strategy or maybe even create it. So, to my mind the best time frame for staying on demo is two months in case you're a novice, if you aren't a novice and just test/create strategy than you have to stay there no more than couple of days.

Two months practice in the demo account is good rather than a week, but almost traders fail and cannot maintain account live trading more than six months, so I think better practice in demo account at least six months, although trading demo account has own drawbacks, like as not involved emotion or psychology, start with big capital, meanwhile in real trading use small capital, etc.

There's no set answer for this question. As others have said, wait until you feel comfortable. Bear in mind that your behavior and psychology will naturally be different when playing with your own money. So start cautiously when you go live

I guess you're quite right. Experience is the best teacher though. Staying on demo too long can cause a beginner's inability to start trading on a live account. A trader will simply scare of tarting trading on a real account just because he set up his mind incorrenctly while trading on a demo account for a very long time. I guess demo account is needed when you want to test your personally created trading strategy or you want to find out why do you lose money, you know, to point out main mistakes which caused losses. In the very beginning it's appropriate to stay on demo for about couple of months no more, because it will be really difficult to reconfigure your mentality .

I waited until I was consistently profitable on my demo before going live…I think it was around 8 months. Had a small setback because I experienced anxiety after switching (demo didn’t prepare me for that) but then I got back on track.

How long should a beginner trader practice demo trading, and how much should a beginner invest during the initial stage?
I guess that it's recommended to stay on demo no more than couple of months for novices, because while trading on demo you don't feel the emotions which you feel while trading on a real account, you know. On demo account you don't have any risks at all, while on a real account risks depend on youre personal risk management and money management strategies. You ought to start trading on a real account as soon as you see that your strategy works properly, you have a string of wins and minimum losses with a help of this strategy. There are some opinions, that novices would better not to stay on demo at all, nevertheless I think otherwise.

At least for a minimum of six month on demo to learn how the forex trading works, these demo comes with virtual money so even if anyone loses in a demo that actually lose nothing but learn from that losing trade.

It depends. For some traders, 6 months may be enough. With most traders, it may take a bit longer than that. I traded in demo account for about 2 years before investing in live market.
