Hello everyone... thanks for accepting me as a new member to the FPA. thought I'd best say hi and introduce myself. I go by the username surepips but my names al. I'm in my 30s, im a scenic artist and painter working in the television and film industry, but im also a long term "part time" trader (its more a hobby/obsession that I enjoy to earn a little passive income from and i like to be forever feeding my thirst for knowledge and trading gives me that chance) i have several years experience under my belt, and alot of hard lessons learnt and endured as Iv progressed through my trading journey to be able to consider myself successfull in my methods today. I mainly trade forex and bitcoin. Although I have been known to trade a little deeper into the crypto markets every now and then when there's a bullrun in the midst. My favourite fx pairs are usdjpy and gbpusd but im forever scanning all the majors for a window of opportunity. Eager to help out where possible and share my experiences, and i look forward to learning more from everyone else here too.
Hope your all having a wonderful day and that your positions are all sat in profit.

Welcome to the group. Looks like you have a lot of experience in trading. Your day time job sounds very interesting. Do you get to travel much in your job? What got you into trading initially? I have been trading seriously for a couple of years now. Look forward to hearing more from about your trading.

Thanks dude. It is, keeps me creative and feeling alive. I suppose yea, alot of location work etc, mainly national travel though around the country... nothing exotic.
Im deffinately no expert or protrader or anything spectacular... but i have given these markets alot of my time, full attention, money, sleepless nights, frustration and anger.
Thats the golden question really, and usually keep it short with an ... I was broke....I needed money....lol.but looking back what mainly got me into it was a daft realisation when I went on holiday. Swapped my money for euros etc, then another holiday around 12 months later and I notice approx 10% difference in the exchange rate, money making gears started grinding.... much later find out about forex......cfd's......leverage (who needs drugs when you experience this right) more or less find out iv been blissfully ignorant to the way of the world, and so it began.......

Found that when you try to look into trading as beginner your greeted by only positive reviews(still see it today)....screenshots of massive profits, people flipping 500bucks into 20k etc, overly glorified as an easy way to make money, and I pretty much fell for it. Dove straight in, blew a few small accounts, kept thinking that there was like some secret trick and a one size fits all strategy. And as people I knew wer able to profit regularly and trade successfully as it were, i knew it wasnt impossible . Few conversations later and a basic explanation of being over leveraged and constantly putting myself into risky situations.
So I chose to try and approach it properly here in... and started reading... alot. Started practicing and backtesting different strategies using demo accounts, eventually found a comfort zone that works for me.
My trading history with bitcoin is another story in itself which ill not go into.... but its probably taught me the harshest and most important lessons when it comes to trading and investing in general over the years.
What about you? What triggered your interest into trading?

Welcome Surepips! It sounds like you are stuck into trading which is great to see. Which FX pairs do you tend to trade? Are you finding BTC is trading differently as more interest has come in on this bull run?

Hey, welcome to the forum. I've been here for a while myself but don't often post that much. Been trading for a few years myself.

Thank you. Mainly usdjpy, and gbpusd. But regularly check eur and aud pairs against gbp usd and jpy. Suppose its more whatever is presenting a better looking entry. Bitcoins deffinately trading differently id say. Alot less volatility overall compared to previous bullruns. My assumptions being that the ever growing rise of institutional interest is absorbing a lot of it. I have a bit of a strange view of btc. Known of its existence since 2010 and the if onlys kill you I believe in general psychology and sentiment combined creates self fulfilling prophecies. I also believe in market making cyclical moves painting patterns....if you get what I mean lol
