Discuss is for general discussions of a financial company or issues related to companies.

Info is for things like "Has anyone heard of Company X?" or "Is Company X legit or not?"

Compare is for things like "Which of these 2 (or more) companies is best?"

Searching is for things like "Help me pick a broker" or "What's the best VPS out there for trading?"

Problem is for reporting an issue with a company. Please don't just scream "CompanyX is a scam!" It is much more useful to say "I can't withdraw my money from Company X" or "Company Y is not honoring their refund guarantee" in the subject line.
Keep Problem discussions civil and lay out the facts of your case. Your goal should be to get your problem resolved or reported to the regulators, not to see how many insults you can put into the thread.

    More info coming soon.

We're switching our MT4 and MT5 IP addresses to DNS references

Dear Trader,

We're continuously upgrading our systems so that we can offer you our fastest and most reliable services. We've now enhanced the service for our MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) clients by switching from Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to Domain Name Server (DNS) references. The update applies to both our Live and Demo accounts.

What do you need to do?

You shouldn't need to do anything because the changes have been implemented automatically. If, however, you need to input your DNS server reference manually, please choose the correct one from this list. Ensure that you select the server corresponding to your account type.

Gold and silver traders to get tighter spreads with smaller price increment

Small market movements matter. That’s why on Monday, 8 April 2013, we’re changing the minimum gold and silver price increment from 1 US cent to 0.1 US cent (USD0.010 to USD0.001) on the MetaTrader 4 platform. This way you can benefit from smaller price moves quicker while at the same time receiving tighter spreads, better execution and more price updates.

What does this mean?

This means that the minimum price increment for gold (XAUUSD) and silver (XAGUSD) will be USD0.001. For example, after the change, the XAUUSD price movement would be 1603.201, 1603.202, 1603.203 etc.

Please be aware that if you want to match exact instant execution price, you may experience re-quotes. Therefore we’d advise you to set up deviation in your trading platform to 50 when trading gold or silver.

deviation_498x265.jpg

What about profit and loss calculation?

Profit and loss will be calculated using standard math rounding. For example, if your profit or loss from a trade is 3.1 US cents, it will be rounded down to 3.0 US cents. If your profit or loss is 3.5 US cents, it will be rounded up to 4.0 cents.

Need more help?

If you have more questions, please feel free to contact our Client Services team by phone +44 20 7426 2900 (07:00-22:00 UK time, Monday-Friday) or email support@alpari.co.uk.

Trade on MT4 on your Mac

alpariplatformmac.jpg

We know that many traders would like to access MT4 from their Macs. Now you can easily install MT4 on the OS X operating system from your Mac computer.

Even though MetaTrader 4 is a native Windows application, with the help of an emulator, you can easily install MT4 on a computer running OS X. To do that, you need to install an app called PlayOnMac that will create a virtual environment for the platform. MT4 will then run within that environment and you can trade the same way you would on a PC.

To help you get started, we've created a handy guide for you on how to install PlayOnMac and the platform.

Dear Trader,

As of 1 August 2013, MetaQuotes, the developer of the MetaTrader platform, will stop supporting MetaTrader 4 (MT4) builds lower than 500. This means you will need to upgrade your platform to the latest build, otherwise you won’t be able to connect to the trading server to access your platform.

If you're running a lower build of the MT4 terminal than 500, please download the newest version of the platform and reinstall it on your PC.

If you need help with downloading and reinstalling the platform, please use our simple how-to guide.

Alpari.co.uk has opened a branch in India for Indian customers who can trade in USDINR,EURINR,JPYINR & GBPINR, according to Indian Govt law. Interestingly, it does neither provide MT4 platform nor demo trading account to Indian customers. Why this special treatment to Indian customers is beyond my imagination. We were hopeful that at last we can trade forex legally in India. But alas, the differrential treatment to Indians have left them high and dry.
