Discuss is for general discussions of a financial company or issues related to companies.

Info is for things like "Has anyone heard of Company X?" or "Is Company X legit or not?"

Compare is for things like "Which of these 2 (or more) companies is best?"

Searching is for things like "Help me pick a broker" or "What's the best VPS out there for trading?"

Problem is for reporting an issue with a company. Please don't just scream "CompanyX is a scam!" It is much more useful to say "I can't withdraw my money from Company X" or "Company Y is not honoring their refund guarantee" in the subject line.
Keep Problem discussions civil and lay out the facts of your case. Your goal should be to get your problem resolved or reported to the regulators, not to see how many insults you can put into the thread.

    More info coming soon.

WARNING: the following unknown entities/person(s) are contacting former and existing victims of various online trading/Forex&CFD scams across Europe and probably more, impersonating to be authorized to claim misappropriated funds by the Government of Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. This is the email potential victims receive in the past few weeks:

Claim-central claims to be in Canada, address Enbridge Centre, Office 2330, 23rd floor, 10175 101 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 0H3, Canada.

Quick check of the office building: https://www.enbridgecentre.ca/ reveals they are not on tenant list, on 23rd floor (only 2 companies there, plus conference room for lease).

The scam email has the attachment from fake HK based IRD:

The demanded 'tax' payments are to be solely executed via cryptocurrency payments. The indicated Claim Central apparently does not exist on given address, as well as people indicated on their website. The email taxfaq@ird-govhk.info is not on official IRD website. Furthermore, ird-govhk.info (Bulgaria, Sofia per domain tools) is a clone website, redirecting victims to fake IRD website (correct one would be ird.gov.hk), with indicated email, to fool people: https://who.is/whois/ird-govhk.info

We issue this warning hoping to prevent possible financial harm to more people and at the same time thank the whistle-blower community for sharing intel.
We are told that the HK Police and the IRD were informed on this scam attempt.

Thanks for exposing the scam :)

Hong Kong Authorities react promptly. Very well ... We show this private message to make all aware that someone is actually doing something about the problem. We also wonder how would EU bodies react, or FCA.

PARTIAL SUCCESS. Web site www.claims-central.com now looks like this:

I think it redirects to some naughty XXX site, so apologies in advance...

However, the fake IRD website is still up and running:

Hopefully, not for long...
