DOP is the ISO code for the Dominican Peso. Symbols for the DOP are $ or RD$ to distinguish it from other currencies using $. The DOP is divided into 100 centavos, symbolized by ¢.
From 1947 until 2011, the Dominican Peso was called the Peso Oro. In 2011, the Dominican Central Bank changed this to Pesos Dominicanos on all new banknotes.
