Daily Market Commentary for March 27, 2009

Even though the Dow Hones Industrial Average (DOW) posted a triple digit loss today, it still posted its best three week move since 1982. (read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

Economic data released today:

Personal Income and Outlays:
US Personal Income fell 0.2% in February compared to consensus of a drop by 0.2%; U.S. Personal Spending rose 0.2% in February compare to Consensus of an increase by 0.2%; U.S. February PCE Core Price Index rose at rate of 0.2% on the Month; U.S. February PCE Core Price Index rose at rate of 1.8% on the Year; U.S. February PCE Price Index rose at rate of 0.3% on the Month; U.S. February PCE Price Index rose at rate of 1.0% on the Year; U.S. January Personal Income Revised to an increase by 0.2% from an increase by 0.4%; U.S. January Spending Revised to an increase by 1.0% from an increase by 0.6%.

Consumer Sentiment provided by the University of Michigan:
12-Month Inflation Forecast rose 2.0% compared to February gain of 1.9%; 5-Year Inflation Forecast rose 2.6% compared to February gain by 3.1%; End-March Sentiment came in at 57.3 compared to February reading of 56.3; End-March Current Index came in at 63.3 compared to February 65.5; End-March Expectations came in at 53.5 compared to February 50.5; Preliminary March Sentiment was 56.6.
