Of course 3 months are enough to learn forex if you do it seriously. The rest of the things are up to your passion. You can learn many lessons even from your loss. Actually, when a trader is really concerned to get knowledge and skill he analyzes everything related to his field. Here test of many strategies and systems is possible you can do mistakes to handle them in future when think you have to mould yourself according to the market situations.

Demo's are for getting comfortable with and learning platform. Not for learning how to trade. The fills you get are from your own pc (demo application) not from any Exchange. Furthermore, there are no consequences when trading with virtual money. So when you do go live, the Market and Trading psychology will eat you up, and spit you out!

What are the major psychological challenges that you can face with as a result of staying on demo account for too much time?

3 months is enough if you spend at least 3-4 hours daily on it and learn from mistakes. It really depends on individual learning curves that's why there is no universal answer.

Humans are naturally in hurry to get real results they do not stay on demo for a long time. I will suggest to remain with demo at least for 3 to 4 months so that you can make many experiments here which is free of cost. if you directly do these things on live account it will be a total loss for you as a beginner. All need to spend a certain time with demo to prepare himself for live trading.

You must stay on demo until you get a hold of your strategy in different situations, until you are profitable for a couple of months. For some long-term strategies that don’t open enough trades in a month, you must test it for longer periods of time, and for scalping strategies which open a couple of hundred trades in a month, you can start real trading sooner. It’s more like you feel you are prepared for real trading and found a good confidence on demo account.

Hello,
how much time one have to use Demo Account, totally depends on his understanding about Forex trading, tool and experience. All you need to do is nothing just spend sufficient amount of time to demo account. It can be 2 months, 6 month or more. When you realize that your knowledge about FX trading is good then move to real account. For beginner it's really helpful to get experience with demo account rather than start directly with Real account. If someone do this 99% chance of loss occur. What you have to do is all about getting knowledge for how Forex Trading Market work and What are the tips and best practice to maximize your profit.
