1. Getting enough well informed and helpful people to share and answer questions.
2. Keeping things on topic so that people can find the information.

Well, every time someone posts a link to a product - people think that it's a paid post so I don't know, niche forums should drive traffic to your website ... but it works in completely opposite direction - at least that's what i see.
