U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke defended financial innovation today but said the current crisis proves that policymakers must make sure new, complex financial products are transparent enough to enable customers to make reasonable decisions. (read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

University of Michigan 5-Yr Inflation Forecast rose 2.7% compared to March increase by 2.6%; University of Michigan 12-Mo Inflation Forecast rose 3.0% compared to March increase by2.0%; University of Michigan Mid-April Sentiment came in at 61.9 compared to March reading of 57.3; University of Michigan Mid-April Current Index came in at 66.6 compared to March reading of 63.3; University of Michigan Mid-April Expectations came in at 58.9 compared to March reading of 53.5.
