Do they want us to take it into our

Can someone provide a summary of what's gone on here? I've read a few pages of the thread but what's the latest?

I did not invest but I live in the area and knew Declan Nowell (he was called Declan Bray in school). Didn't post much on social media over the years and didn't have any sort of stable career. Last thing I knew he was an off shore chef at one point.

Then suddenly he has a bright orange Mclaren in town and a new house. Him and his partner seem to have removed themselves off of social media now.
All gone very quite DC Banks doesn't send updates anymore.

Just raised a complaint with my bank to see if I can get my money back. Halifax. They said they couldn't log it and weren't aware of this scam. So I asked them to log it as a complaint which they will now have to investigate and if I disagree with the outcome of that investigation I can go to the ombudsman.

Interesting that they say they didn't know about the scam when Mr Nowell's bank account is with Halifax.
I've done a bit of digging and came across the Contingent Reimbursement Model Code for Authorised Push Payment Scams https://www.lendingstandardsboard.o...2023/10/LSB-CRM-Code-V5.0-17-October-2023.pdf. reading this it looks like any bank which could have prevented the scam will be liable for reimbursing people who've been scammed.

So if you raise it with your bank, as a complaint in order to get it logged if necessary, it's not necessarily your bank that is paying back the funds to you, it could well be Halifax reimburses your bank for the costs because Halifax should have taken action to stop the scam before people were scammed.
