The major indices found a safe haven in the green zone throughout the trading day today, ending the trading session near their highs for the trading session. Trading ranges were slightly improved but it appeared that day traders and investors were leery of the positive market tone. (read more)

Metals Markets: Gold (CMX) shed $8.30 to close at $875.50 ($US per Troy oz.); Silver (CMX) gained $0.23 to close at $17.17 ($US per Troy oz.); Platinum (NYM) gained $17.60 on the day to close at $2,012.50 ($US per Troy oz.) and Copper (CMX) shed $0.01 on the day to close at $3.54 ($US per lb.).

Livestock and Meat Markets (cents per lb.): Lean Hogs (CME) gained 0.20 to close at 75.50; Pork Bellies (CME) shed 2.00 to close at 71.50; Live Cattle (CME) gained 0.50 to close at 101.00; Feeder Cattle (CME) shed 0.90 to close at 112.83.

Other Commodities (cents per bu.): Corn (CBT) gained 27.75 to close the session at 670.75 and Soybeans (CBT) gained 63.00 to close session at 1,452.00.

Bond action for the day: 2 year bond shed 3/32 on the day to close at 100 7/32 with a Yield of 2.50, Yield Change +0.05; 5 year bond shed 10/32 to close at 100 24/32 with a Yield of 3.33, Yield Change +0.07; 10 year bond shed 16/32 to close at 98 20/32 with a Yield of 4.04, Yield Change +0.06; the 30 year bond shed 19/32 to close at 94 5/32 on the day with a Yield of 4.74, Yield Change +0.04.
