  3. Added 4 new color schemes - Dark Forest, Dark Autumn, Dark Gold, and Light theme.
  4. Time to next bar on Chart panel

1. Trading via Order Flow Surface

The first version of this panel allowed only analyzing the flow of limit orders, their change over time as well as showing their maximum accumulation. After a while, our users asked us to add trading functionality to the panel. But we decided to add a little more to the Order Flow Surface panel:

  1. Chart & mouse trading
  2. Volume Analysis Tools
  3. Indicators & Drawings

Thus, there is no need to keep the chart panel or order entry panel to send a new order. Launch the Order Flow panel, analyze order book heatmap and send orders in one click. In addition, for comprehensive analysis, add volume profiles to the Order Flow Surface on the left, right side, or set up a Step profile.

2.Adding Indicators to the Watchlist

The ability to add indicators to the chart is available in almost every trading platform. But what about the indicators in the Watchlist? We thought it would be useful for traders to see the values of indicators on the whole list of instruments without opening dozens of charts. Open the Watchlist panel with the selected symbols, add the necessary indicators and sort the table by indicator values.

3.New Coloring Themes

It is important for us that traders work on a modern, reliable and beautiful platform. That's why our designers added more colors and "moods" to the platform in the form of 4 new color themes - Dark Autumn, Dark Forest, Dark Gold, and Light Water theme.

You can change the theme through the main application settings in the General category.

4.Time to Next Bar

A small feature, but, as it turned out, very popular among traders. Using the countdown indicator you do not need to calculate the remaining time to the next bar, which is especially important for non-standard time intervals. Activate it through the Chart panel settings and it will appear in the lower right corner of the panel.

To sum up

As always, we don't mention here less significant but numerous other fixes and micro-improvements, but be sure that they have been deployed, forming a solid foundation for best user experience and the future of the platform's development. If you still have questions about our platform and its functionality, you can visit our documentation section or just contact us in support.

1.DOM Surface Panel

The liquidity analysis in the Order Book gives a key to understanding the market and allows you to see patterns and levels from which the price can bounce back with a high probability. For this purpose, the Order Flow Surface panel is already available in our platform, which shows all changes and evolution in limit orders in the form of a map. But we went further

Today we are pleased to present DOM Surface — a new and improved tool for professional analysis of order flow. So, let's see what's interesting in it:
  1. Added three coloring modes to visualize the liquidity map — Monochrome, Bichrome, Heatmap.

  2. The execution of market orders is shown in the form of Circles. Red circles indicate the execution of sell orders, and green circles indicate the execution of buy. The size of the circle corresponds to the order volume. In the settings of the panel, you can set the maximum size of the circle, its opacity, as well as the maximum trade size.

  3. In addition to the Last Trade line, you can include Bid/Ask lines on the chart. For each line, you can set any color for a better perception.

  4. On the right side of the panel, there are three histograms — Size, Cumulative Size, Order Book Imbalance.

Size shows the volume of limit orders at each price.
Cumulative Size shows the sum of Limit order volumes for each subsequent level. This histogram allows estimating the dominating side of the market.
Imbalance shows how many percents of buyers are more than sellers (and vice versa) for each price level.

  5. When you move the cursor over the map area, information on the level and volume at each price will be displayed in the upper left corner. By activating the Info Mode, you can hover over any circle and see the actual size of the executed order.

  6. The main bar of the panel has quick settings where you can set the required number of DOM levels, as well as their contrast. This allows you to focus on levels with high liquidity.

  7. Added 9 Hot Keys to perform basic trading operations: placing market orders, placing limit orders by the best bid/offer price, canceling orders and closing positions. This is by far great addition which allows you to quickly respond to changing market conditions.

  8. We have added an auto-centering of the chart, which aligns the price position in case the bid/ask lines go beyond the chart visibility.
2. Coinbase Pro (GDAX) is available for charting & analytics

We continue to expand the list of connections in the platform. Today we are pleased to introduce Coinbase Pro known as GDAX in market data mode. This mode allows you to analyze all available cryptocurrencies without using the API Key or any login data.

3.Quantower Chart Style

We made small visual changes on the well-known candle chart — shadows of the candles have the same thickness of the candle itself and added transparency to them. This chart style we called "Quantower" and you can choose it from a list of chart styles.

4.Alerts for Indicators

At the user's request, we added alerts for indicators. After setting an alert on the necessary indicator, it will be active until the specified condition is met. Alert placement is performed in the same way as on the main chart, i.e. through the "Bell" icon

And that's where I have to say goodbye, but not for long. We have more other news coming your way very soon, so keep your eyes open!
By the way, speaking of the updates. To get the new version, click on the "Logo" icon and open the sidebar, then press the “NEW VERSION” button at the bottom and get on About screen. Press the "DOWNLOAD" button, and Quantower will download the latest version and prepare it for the update.

TPO Profile chart and Trading on BitMEX exchange

Here at Quantower, we continue to develop new features, add more connections and of course new panels for your better trading. Therefore, in this release, we are super excited to present a completely new panel — TPO Chart.

Trading on BitMEX exchange
Previously, we've connected to BitMEX crypto exchange and it lets you analyze digital currencies and futures in Info mode. This allowed you to use BitMEX data without the API & Secret Keys.

So today we are happy to announce that we've added Trading on BitMEX. Now you are able to enter your personal API Key & Secret Key to trade main cryptocurrencies and their futures.

TPO Profile Chart (a.k.a. Market Profile®)
Time Price Opportunity or TPO Chart, shows the price distribution during the specified time, thus forming a profile. This allows you to understand at which levels or ranges the price has spent the most time, as well as to determine the main support and resistance levels.

Let's take a look at the most interesting points of the TPO chart panel

Building a TPO Profile for any time period
The base element of the TPO chart is letters that are used to build the market profile structure. Each letter initially represents a half-hour period. Quantower offers to specify in the aggregation settings any values on the basis of which the profile will be built. For example, a daily profile of 30-minute bars is considered as a “standard”. But you can set a lower value of “Build From” and the profile will be more granular. Conversely, set the value higher and the shape of the profile will be smoother.

10 coloring modes for profile visualization
Choose any color scheme for better representation and analysis of the TPO profile. Currently, there are 10 different coloring modes available — Single Color, Up/Down Profile, Up/Down Bars, Heatmap, Delta Profile, Delta Price, Delta Bars, Volume Profile, Volume Price, Volume Bars.

Key elements of TPO Profile — POC, Value Area, Singles
In the profile style settings, enable the main elements for precise analysis:Point of Control (POC) — price level of the greatest market activity or trading volume. At this level, the price spent most time over the profile range.Value Area — price range in which approximately 68% - 70% of the market activity or trading volume took place.Singles or single prints of the profile are placed in the middle of a profile structure, not at the upper or lower edge. They occur on impulse movements and are used as support/resistance zones, which the price can test in the near future. The singles line indicates where the singles begin to form (in cases when there are several single prints).

Overlaying the standard chart over the TPO Profile
In the Style settings of TPO Profile enable the “Plot Symbol” option for displaying the standard chart and apply any drawings for technical analysis.

Splitting & Merging the TPO Chart
Use splitting for a detailed analysis of profile formation. There are two splitting modes available in the platform:

  • Split full profile, that separates the profile into each bar or TPO;
  • Divide by bar, that splits the profile in half on the selected bar.
To separate TPO, select the necessary profile and click on the Split button (or use right-click to open the context menu)

Merge is a feature that combines several profiles into one. Right-click on the selected profile to open the context menu and select Merge Left or Merge Right. To return profiles to their original positions, press the Reset button.

Using Volume Analysis tools
TPO profiles are used on their own to find areas of support and resistance, and can also be used in conjunction with volume profiles. For this, we have added Volume Analysis control to the top toolbar of the panel. Here you can select the data type and show/hide the POC & Value Area.

In addition, we have left our standard volume analysis tools, which let you add Time Statistics & Histogram for bar analysis, VWAP, and other tools.

Setting the Session Time
Set the custom time range for the necessary trading session and the profile will be built within this range. The rest of the time the profile will not take into account

Quantower update! https://www.quantower.com/
Here is what the latest version has to offer:
  1. 37 Predefined Options Strategies
  2. Volatility Smile chart for Options Series
  3. Cumulative Last Trade Size in DOM Trader
  4. Added OCO orders for Rithmic connection

37 Predefined Options Strategies

In this release, we improved the Option Analytics panel by adding a list of 37 predefined option strategies that you can apply for analysis or trading with one click. For convenience, all strategies are divided into 4 categories:
  1. Up Trend
  2. Down Trend
  3. Volatility Based
  4. Arbitrage strategies
For each strategy, you can see a general risk profile scheme, description, and structure, i.e. what options (Call or Put) it consists of. Once you have selected the desired strategy from the list, click on the “Add Strategy” button and it will appear in the bottom table “Test & Real Positions”. In this table, you can analyze several strategies at once, simply ticking off the necessary strikes.

It is important to note that all option strategies are built on the strikes closest to ATM (at-the-money). To extend the strategy profile, you need to manually add the necessary strikes via the Paper column in the options desk.

Volatility Smile chart

Another improvement that we added to the Option Analytics panel is the Volatility Smile chart. It shows the implied volatility values for all strikes on the same line. This allows you to compare the value of options and understand is their overbought or oversold relative to each other.

Cumulative Last Trade Size in DOM Trader

Changed the display of the Last Trade Size, which was located on the price axis. In the new version, we placed Last Trade Size in a separate column and added a mechanism for accumulating trading volume, if the price did not change.

For example, if the previous trade was on the Bid side, and then the latest trade is on the Ask side at the same price, then the Last Trade Size will add the value. But if the price will change on one tick up or down, then the Last Trade Size will be reset.

Added OCO orders for Rithmic connection

In the last release, we have already added Bracket Orders, which allow you to reduce losses in case of an unfavorable trade. Today we present OCO orders (One Cancels Other), which is a widely known and popular order type among traders. Using the trading functionality of the Quantower platform, you can set two independent limit orders and combine them into an OCO group. When one of the orders is executed, the second will be automatically canceled.
Additionally, for each limit order, you can set Bracket orders (SL and TP) and then merge them into a group.

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think about Quantower, your feedback helps us improve whole the platform. Keep an eye out for future updates!

2 new improvements for Alpaca connection — OAuth authorization and Bracket Orders
OAuth authorization

In early February, Alpaca Markets added support of OAuth authorization, which ensures the security and privacy of users when connecting. This protocol allows users to authorize without disclosing API & Secret Keys to 3rd-party platforms.

How does it look? Each time you connect to Alpaca Markets, a browser window will appear with authorization to your personal account via email and password. Quantower does not have access to these login credentials and doesn’t save them on its side.

Bracket Orders
In addition to OAuth authorization, Alpaca Market broker added Bracket Order. It’s an advanced order type that allows cutting losses and simplifies the trading process. The order itself contains 3 orders embedded in it:
  • Limit Order or main order
  • Take Profit limit order
  • Stop Loss order
When a Bracket Order is placed, the system will first execute the Limit order. Until the Limit Order is triggered the ‘Take Profit Order’ and ‘Stop-Loss order’ do not get activated. If the main order is executed, the system will wait for the conditions for exit from the position to be fulfilled. When the condition is met (stop loss or take profit), the position will close and the other bracket leg will be canceled.

Multiple custom trading sessions
Trading activity and volatility can vary for each trading session. And if you need to analyze the distribution of trading volume for different sessions, it is better to use Custom Trade Session.

In the chart settings, set the time range for one or several trading sessions and inactive areas will be darkened on the chart. All volume analysis tools, including Volume Profiles, Clusters, VWAP, on this chart will calculate the volume data only for the active (specified) range.

Custom trade sessions are available for next panels: Chart, TPO Chart, DOM Trader, DOM Surface

Improved the management of lists in the Watchlist panel
Watchlist panel allows you to create lists of symbols, save and switch between them in a couple of clicks. In the latest version, we improved the list management mechanism by adding two options:
  • Add to Watchlist option allows you to add a previously saved list to the current list of instruments
  • Replace Watchlist option clears the current list and adds the previously saved list to the panel

Connection to Intrinio
One more integration in our connection list! Intrinio is a data feed that provides historical and real-time pricing data on Stocks, ETFs, Forex and various economic and macro indicators. The full list of provided data, as well as the subscription price, can be found on their official website.

Now, what are you waiting for? Update the platform or download the latest version, and let us know what you think about new features!
