Never make assumptions about whether a thread went quiet because the client as paid. Many clients give up and don't maintain threads indefinitely once they've assumed they have no chance to get paid.

I guess I am more tenacious than most because if someone withheld my money, that thread would be constantly updated until its resolved.

I wish more people were more tenacious. Then again, if everyone was that tenacious, we'd have many thousands of threads being continuously updated.
