Hey folks:
Last week’s market was driven by the uncertainty of U.S. budget crisis that threatened a possible government shutdown. USD was trading at the lowest level in months with AUD pushing to all time highs at above 1.0580. With the passing of a temporary budget resolution, market has calmed to a degree with USD showing possible signs of recovery in the short term. As far as geopolitical situation, Libya’s Qaddafi has accepted a ceasefire agreement proposed by North Africa and is likely to cause recent rapid rising in crude oil prices to consolidate.
As far as tradable news events for this week are concerned, we are only looking at 4 tradable releases:
1. Tue April 12, 2011 – 4:30am EST – UK CPI y/y
Historical Chart and Data
2. Tue April 12, 2011 – 9:00am EST – CA BOC Rate Decision
Historical Chart and Data
3. Wed April 13, 2011 – 8:30am EST – US Core Retail Sales
Historical Chart and Data
4. Fri April 15, 2011 – 8:30am EST – US Core CPI m/m
Historical Chart and Data
The focus of the week is US Core Retail Sales as US economy is a consumption based economy and the Retail Sales component makes up 2/3 of its GDP.
Thanks,
