What is adequate amount of time to test out a trading strategy?

don go round givin people advice if U don really know what Ure talkin bout. even those scalpin strategies need 2 be tested in all kinds of market situations and jus 1 week ain enough to see how things really play out. testin a strategy ain jus bout the strategy itself its also bout how the trader rolls with it and how they handle things when theyre in the thick of it. and for real one week jus ain gonna cut it for all that UK?
I completely agree. You might just get lucky for a week, but a trader could already start believing the strategy is working.

yeah if U really think positive bout it U gonna need at least six months
Yes, that's true, but honestly, a beginner is unlikely to develop and fully test a strategy in six months. However, it's all individual for each person. I believe reviewing and adjusting a trading strategy should be an ongoing process that never really ends.

U ain wrong. i said that in the best way possible but for real a year is the shortest ive ever seen.

In my experience, giving a trading strategy 3–6 months to test is usually enough. This timeframe lets you see how it handles different market conditions and helps you refine it.
I quite agree with you 3 to 6 months should provide enough time to evaluate a strategy.

An adequate amount of time to test a trading strategy is typically a few months, with a minimum of 3 to 6 months recommended. This allows you to observe how the strategy performs across different market conditions, such as trending, ranging, or volatile markets. Additionally, it’s important to test the strategy on historical data (backtesting) and in a demo account (forward testing) to ensure it is consistently effective before applying it to live trading.

There are many service providers offering backtesting services or you can do it on the demo account using past data in my opinion.
