As expected, market trading atmosphere was sluggish today until, the FOMC Minutes were released. A combo of the surge in Crude Oil over $133 a barrel compounded with Fed minutes pushed the major market indices deep into negative territory. (read more)

Energy Sector: Light Crude (NYM) gained $4.19 on the day to close at $133.17 a barrel ($US per bbl.); Heating Oil (NYM) gained $0.13 on the day to close at $3.93 a gallon ($US per gal.); Natural Gas (NYM) gained $0.27 on the day to close at $11.78 per million BTU ($US per mmbtu.); Unleaded Gas (NYM) gained $0.09 on the day to close at $3.40 a gallon ($US per gal.).

Metals Markets: Gold (CMX) gained $8.40 to close at $928.60 ($US per Troy oz.); Silver (CMX) gained $0.33 to close at $18.05 ($US per Troy oz.); Platinum (NYM) gained $73.30 on the day to close at $2,221.10 ($US per Troy oz.) and Copper (CMX) shed $0.03 to close at $3.74 ($US per lb.).

Livestock and Meat Markets (cents per lb.): Lean Hogs (CME) shed 0.33 to close at 76.13; Pork Bellies (CME) shed 1.75 to close at 75.40; Live Cattle (CME) gained 1.03 to close at 99.55; Feeder Cattle (CME) gained 0.70 to close at 114.38.

Other Commodities (cents per bu.): Corn (CBT) gained 17.50 to close the session at 607.25 and Soybeans (CBT) gained 17.50 to close session at 1,349.00.

Bond action for the day: 2 year bond shed 5/32 to close at 99 15/32 with a Yield of 2.39, Yield Change +0.08; 5 year bond shed 9/32 to close at 100 7/32 with a Yield of 3.07, Yield Change +0.06; 10 year bond shed 9/32 to close at 100 17/32 with a Yield of 3.80, Yield Change +0.03; the 30 year bond shed 6/32 to close at 97 8/32 on the day with a Yield of 4.54, Yield Change +0.01.
