Major U.S. indices ended the trading session in positive territory, the fifth out of last six trading sessions. Better than expected housing starts data, led the way for the markets to move into positive territory. Trading action was generally dull during the afternoon trading session. Olin Corp, 1Q profit forecast higher. Co raises Q1 EPS guidance to $0.60-0.65, to the $0.54 First Call consensus, up from $0.50-0.65.

(DRI) - buy
Darden, boosts '09 outlook. Co issues upside guidance for FY09, sees EPS of $2.66-$2.74, vs. $2.52 consensus.

(ADBE) - short
Adobe Systems Inc, said its fiscal first-quarter net income fell to $156.4 mln, or 30 cents a share, from $219.4 mln, or 39 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.

(GES) - short
Guess Inc, reported net income of $47.9 mln, or 52 cents a share, down from $55.2 mln, or 59 cents, a year ago.

(AGN) - short
A French challenger to the wrinkle treatment Botox, made by Allergan, has been approved for sale in the U.K. Ipsen Chief Executive Jean-Luc Belingard said he was confident Azzalure would take "a significant share" of the market from Botox.

The FOMC concluded to leave interest rates alone today, just what was expected by Wall Street. Ed Liddy was drilled and drilled hard by Congress today, regarding the bonuses paid to executives. Even though he was not present when some of the contracts under scrutiny were written, he still took the heat.

Oracle Corp reported stronger-than-expected quarterly results and said it would pay its first dividend to shareholders, sending its shares up 6 percent in extended trading.

O'Reilly Automotive Inc. will replace Noble Corp (NE.N) in its flagship S&P 500 .SPX stock index.

(NKE) - short
Nike, profit drops 47% on slower demand.

(CLC) - short
For the period ended Feb. 28, net income fell 46 percent to $8.8 mln, or 17 cents a share, from $16.1 mln, or 32 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales fell 15 percent to $213.7 mln from $250.2 mln.

Lam Research, to cut 375 jobs, or 10% of workforce. Company hopes to save $85 mln to $95 mln a year with the reductions. Also Credit Suisse raises CY09 estimates above consensus for LRCX.

Palm loss widens significantly as sales plunge. Palm reported a net loss of $98 mln, or 89 cents per share, compared with a loss of $57 mln, or 53 cents per share, a year earlier.

(ULTA) - short
Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance 1st quarter profit below Wall Street estimates. Co issues downside guidance for Q1, sees EPS of $0.04-0.06 vs. $0.07 consensus; sees Q1 revs of $262-271 mln vs. $273.27 mln consensus.

(LNC) - short
Moody's Investors Service downgraded life insurance company and investment manager Lincoln National Corp.'s senior debt rating, and said more cuts could follow.

(SPG) - short
Simon Property Group, Inc. announced that it intends to conduct, subject to market and other conditions, concurrent offerings of approximately 15,000,000 shares of common stock and approximately $500 million principal amount of senior notes due 2019.

Co announces it expects first quarter 2009 performance to be negatively impacted by increased weakness in its transportation segments and by workforce reduction restructuring costs. Net income is expected to be break-even in the quarter (consensus calls for $0.35 per share).

Hub Group sees 1st-qtr profit below expectations. The Company estimates truck brokerage revenue will be down 22% to 28% in the first quarter due to declines in price, volume and fuel.

Co provides an update to FY09 EPS guidance, based on the expectation that the economic downturn will continue through the remainder of our fiscal year, we believe it is appropriate to be more cautious with our earnings projections.
