(CHIC) - buy
Charlotte Russe predicts 3Q profit above forecasts.

(ZUMZ) - short
Zumiez same-store sales tumble 17.9 percent in March, weaker than analysts' forecast.

(SGR) - short
Shaw Group misses by $0.18, misses on revs. Co reports Q2 earnings of $0.43 per share, $0.18 worse than then First Call consensus of $0.61, revenues of $1.67 bln vs the $1.75 bln consensus.

Federal Signal forecast a surprise 1Q profit as it sees lower costs from litigation and expects earnings of 1 cent to 3 cents a share from continuing operations.

(DBRN) - buy
Dress Barn forecast a 3Q profit that beat market estimates. Quarter ending, forecast earnings of 30 cents to 32 cents and expects same-store sales to remain flat. Co expects to provide a narrower fiscal 2009 earnings outlook range when it reports third-quarter results.

(OZRK) - buy
Bank of the Ozarks announced net income a record $9,286,000, an increase of 19.6% from $7,765,000 for the first quarter of 2008. Diluted earnings for 1Q 2009 a record $0.55, compared to $0.46 for the 1Q of 2008, an increase of 19.6%.

(GS) - buy
Goldman Sachs beat expectations, reporting a profit of $1.66 billion for the first three months of 2009. They plan to raise $5 billion in stock to help pay back government bailout funds.They earned $3.39 per share, vs. analysts' forecasts of $1.64 per share.

Dreaded tax day for all Americans. Word came from President Obama that he intends to work and simplify the massive tax code. His goal is to make today, April 15th, to not be the horrific day it remains, today. Trading activity was mixed through most of the trading session with the U.S. indices closing to the positive side, at the closing bell.

Biogen Idec said its Q1 earnings rose but, overall revenue and sales of its main drugs fell short of market expectations.

(ELY) - short
Callaway Golf announced net sales estimated to be $272 mln, a decrease of 26% compared to net sales of $366 mln for the Q1 2008. Gross profit estimated to be $116 mln or 43% of net sales compared to gross profit of $176 mln or 48% of net sales for the Q1 2008.

(ISRG) - short
Intuitive Surgical reported Q1 results that met analyst estimates but, company reported net income of $28.1 mln or 72 cents per share, down from $44.8 mln or $1.12 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted EPS at $1.02 with sales virtually flat.

Chesapeake Energy announced it has elected to curtail approximately 400 mln cubic feet (mmcf) per day of its gross natural gas production due to continued low wellhead prices.
