2019 Year In Review

2019 Year In Review

2019 at the Forex Peace Army

Hello Troops,

I know the year isn’t over yet.  I should send this out around New Years Day, but I wanted to brag about something happening now.

December 11th marks the completion of my 12th year of service here at the Forex Peace Army.  I suppose I can be happy to have managed to survive another year of denial of service attacks, threats (legal and illegal), and more.

Working at the FPA is so relaxing.

Our DDoS defenses have been greatly improved.  There were some record-setting attacks, but the downtime has been minimal.  Most attacks aren’t even noticeable.

Overall, things have been going very well.  This past year saw some major progress on several fronts…

Forums Upgrade

First, as most of you have noticed, we had another big upgrade to the forums software.  We had been running on 1.x versions of XenForo and have moved up to one of the newest 2.x versions.  Other than a small handful of message attachments, everything from the old forum was successfully transferred.  All basic functions are about 99% back to normal.  In some ways, the forums are now better than normal.  Forums pages are loading much faster than they used to.

There are some new features of XenForo 2 which will be phased in over the next few months.  I’ll try to let you know as those happen.

Books and Blogs

The Forex Peace Army has had a publications section for while now.  Previously, it was primarily articles about forex and cryptocurrencies.  More recently, a number of forums threads were moved.  As you can see, this post is not a forums thread.  It’s a post in my blog.  If you are logged into your forums account, you can leave comments.  Many of Pharaoh’s educational and anti-scam threads were moved to his blog.  Sive Morton’s Bitcoin articles are now in his blog.

The Forex Peace Army publications system is not just for articles and blogs.  Sive Morton’s Forex Military School, Andrew Mitchem’s From Dairy Farmer to Forex Trader,  Jacob Dupont Knudson’s Forex Hacking, and Rimantas Petrauskas’ 5 Forex Scams Used in EAs, Indicators, and Signals have all been moved from the forums to the new Books section of the FPA’s publications system.

Vote For Helpful Reviews

Now you can click a button on individual reviews you think are helpful.  You can also see how many others found a review to be helpful.   Visit the Forex Peace Army’s reviews and tell the world which reviews you think provide the best information for people deciding whether or not to do business with a company.  You will need to be logged into your forums account to access this feature.

Please don’t just click Helpful on a review because you agree with the rating.  Please vote for reviews that provide useful details which traders need to know.

By the way, those Helpful votes are planned to become more useful later on.  I’ll let you know when that happens.

Broker Database

There’s also something else I’m very pleased about in the Forex Peace Army reviews.  This has been in the planning stages for years and now we’ve got the first steps done.  Approximately 200 of the forex brokers we have listed are now showing much more broker information on their review pages.  You can now see the broker’s office addresses, regulators, maximum leverage, and so much more.  Just go here and click on a few forex brokers and you’ll be able to see it for yourself.

This is just the beginning of the FPA’s Broker Database.  More brokers are getting their data added every week.  Related upgrades are on the way.  Soon, you’ll be able to search for forex brokers by regulators, trading platforms, and more.  For now, you can easily learn a lot more about a broker’s offerings just by visiting its FPA review page.

2020 Here We Come

I’m looking forward to bringing you more news about even more upgrades, improvements, and new features throughout 2020.

I hope all of you have a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid, Kwanzaa, or whatever holiday you plan to celebrate later this month.

Plus, Happy New Year!  I hope all FPA members have an excellent 2020!

AsstModerator FPA

Bill started off as the Assistant Moderator to the FPA's forums in December 2007. Not long after, he was promoted to being the forums administrator. Even with the promotion, he kept the same username, which led to some very amusing conversations with people who didn't know that Bill and AsstModerator were the same person.

Being blamed for everything people disagreed with in the forums wasn't enough punishment for Bill. A few months after becoming the forums admin, he started making suggestions to improve the moderation of the FPA's reviews. Now Bill is the person who gets blamed for everything people get blamed for in the forums and reviews.

Thank you for all the work you do. I get up in the morning, open my email and the first one I look for is Andrew Mitchem's daily trends, open my broker platform, then I browse your site for new information and go on with the rest of my day. Looking forward to 2020 and new developments from forexpeacearmy.
