Don't think I would do it myself, but I guess for some people who see the draw, it's no worse that investing in anything else I guess. At that point they have to make sure they invest in the right person, not know the market so well.

I actually think the smaller more exotic currencies can see great gains. Some of them have VERY regular ups and downs. Not very far, but they ARE scalpable if you are into that sort of thing.

I think it's simple in the end. People don't take the time to TRULY learn the market and trading AND it's pitfalls. They take the risk-free easy wins on demo, and then think it will go the same way with real money, but don't have a concept of how emotion can be tied in with the real money, and...
