Yeah some simple strategies can be backtested with good precision but if your system relies on tight execution then demo results may be misleading
 
Advantages are pretty apparent, I reckon. It helps you to stick to the new environment whenever you step up on the new platform with a totally new broker for you.
Another advantage is about helping new traders to assimilate in a new sphere for them, to understand how the market works, which buttons to push to open/close orders and so on.
Disadvantages are obvious enough for those having an expertise in the field - it's all about trading psychology. As money is artificial on the demo, it's very difficult for people to refuse trading on the demo and move to the real acc where they must sacrifice their own money.
 
Trading on demo can be good to testing out strategies, but you should always start on real with very small lots. When real money is assosiated with a trade, your mindset will change especially perception of risk!
 
The broker offer micro account and standard account designed for different purposes, beginners level can start in real account with choose micro account because lower risk and only need minimum deposit.
