Outlook 2008, The Upcoming US Depression

Give me and everybody else for that matter a break.

First of all you are regurgitating content that has been discussed over and over on all the media for years now ad nauseam.

Secondly, you got a significant part of it wrong. What hurts America hurts the world. Also it is not America that is in trouble living on loan - it is China. When you owe 1000 you are in trouble, when you owe 1million it is your lender who is in trouble. Go ask Trump, who was millions in debt and he knew he didn't need to worry because it was not his ass on the line but the banks...When he sunk even further - guess what? they gave him more...
China, neither anybody else holding dollars can do much anymore...they are stuck with the paper...The bottom line is the only people who do have a say are the Saudis in what the dollar will be worth.

Thirdly, France moving to nuclear energy is not that wise of a move as you want to make it out. If you had done any real research you would have found that current estimate of global uranium reserves is about another 10-15 years with *current* consumption levels. It will probably be not viable as energy source much sooner due to price... All that investment in infrastructure will be a loss for France. Actually, france could have better invested in cheaper alternatives to nuclear.

Why don't you get off your high horse and stop pretending you are giving new insight.

Anybody, who wants to get the information from the real source I would suggest anything written by Matthew Simmons or Michael Ruppert. Those people think for themselves.

quote "What hurts America hurts the world......"

It used to be said among the world economists...'When America sneezes the whole world catches a cold'.

I'm afraid this is no longer true, and fortunatly so. Hence, why emerging markets are the current fad in economist lingo.

Unfortunately that view is held only by the ignorant. Any country with 300mil in consumers that sneezes will have effect...

This begs the question are you really paying attention to what is going on or just blasting america for the sake of it. Perhaps you are not aware of the credit situation in the states that has close to bankrupted multiple insitutions worldwide with one of the main examples Northern Trust - which is incidentally a british institution...

Maybe your "brother" omitted to tell you:

British banking giant Barclays reported $2.67 billion in charges and write-offs largely due to the sub prime issues in US.
Swiss bank UBS may face an asset write-off of up to $7.1 billion this quarter
HSBC just took a $3.4 billion charge against earnings as a result of the credit crunch

These new revelations are in addition to losses of about $45 billion in global financial sector due to America "sneezing".

What hurts america hurts the world? Not really.... America is hurting and the rest of the world is doing fine. Sure their imports will slow and that may hurt china a bit..but china is offsetting already. For alternatives...there are many...Do you see the US using any? Ethonal, there isn't enough reserves, wind is very expensive as well...solar is good but expensive again...it is the most likely of alternatives if used..but either way they will never stop consuming oil...oil reserves will be still be around long after our generation goes...they keep finding more and more of it....just look up north(arctic) or deep in the ocean...expensive to drill for however...oil is only going higher and the US wont stray away from it for a very long time...The Iran situation is only going to makes things worse as far as oil goes. Your trump point and Saudi point is just gibberish..makes no sense at all and has no relevence I cant even reply to it cause its just gibberish. Nobody is holding US dollars except the US. foreign countries are selling it back to the US banks lol. As far as uranium reserves there is said to be 4.6 billion tonnes in sea water alone...1 kilogram produces 20 trillion joules. You do the math....a whole lot more than 15 years worth at current consumption rates. Anyway... if you going to make a post...back it up atleast a little bit and make some sence.
Anyway thats all I have time for atm...I'll add more later

Thanks for the eye-opener. Firstly I don't think I was replying to you.

Secondly it's easy to resort to name calling without any substantiation. Have you perhaps thought about the backing of the US dollar? There is just one thing - it's oil. Guess who is the only swing supplier currently - Saudi Arabia. Everybody other OPEC and non-OPEC supplier has peaked and in decline.
As for your claim - nobody is holding dollars except the US - perhaps you should go to china - the central bank is providing accounts to chinese citizens in uh,,guess what - the US dollar. Do you perhaps know how much US Dollar reserves their CB is holding? Maybe you should do some checking into that before you make bold unsubstantiated claims that only will meet with laughter with anybody reasonably familiar with the real world.
There are elements at trace quantities everywhere - even gold in sea water. Do you see anybody panning for gold in sea water. How will you extract your uranium molecule by molecule from the water? Do you have the technology. How much do you think it will cost?

I also never said America will have it good - yes it is stuck with oil and it will be hard. It will be hard for the whole world. I am just saying that France's decision to go all nuclear is not the wisest move.

Furthermore, nuclear is much more expensive than you may think - it is impossible to restrict and secure depleted uranium in one space. there is no element or compound strong enough that can contain this element. The reason is it leaches in between atoms. So what do the French do? Like the americans they bury it in the ground (abandoned mines) or Yuca Mountain in the states. Americans also put it in ammunition and vehicle armor to use to "free" people like Iraqis. Who cares when it's a foreign country right? But that's a different subject... These areas will be essentially contaminated for 4.5 billion years which is the half life of depleted uranium. And radiation will continuously leach out for longer than the human race will exist....

No need for more time if this is the kind of media-fed nonsense you will write. Educate yourself on your own and not what others feed you.
Best regards and good luck with your armchair economics...

Zarni, they say that the truth hurts. You know as well as any one that America is heading for a fall if they don’t change there course soon, and it might already be too late. The reality is that a lot of countries can now do without America…but is this also true for America?

I don't recall denying that America is headed for fall. Where did I say or imply that? The fall is already here...
The point I was making is 1) that it is no revelation - we have been talking about this for 5 years now . 2) the whole world will suffer, not only america.
By the way I have no feelings either way for america. It seems some people are more biased and want to see america suffer. Remember the people that live in the US although not very educated and interested in anything past their SUVs and 401ks are people like you and me and will suffer as much as you will. Although I don't support the way the country is headed it is not much different from what any other country is doing - it is corporate fascism and it is taking over the world regardless of who is the politician or the flag.

Sorry folks - this is somewhat off topic but...........

Impossible for a wizard. Not impossible for a physicist with a particle accelerator and an unlimited budget.

Quite right too.

The creation of gold is a practical impossibility.

Almost all (>99.9999999999999999%) the gold in the universe is produced in
supernova explosions. All the elements beyond iron on the periodic chart are
formed in supernova. Very small amounts of heavy elements can be created
from other elements by humans using cyclotrons and nuclear reactors.

In other words - I don't think we need to worry about someone coming up
a means of manufacturing gold so as Rob says investing in gold is probably the safest investment there is.

(by the way did you know that all the gold thats ever been produced would fit in a 60 foot cube? - amazing fact)

100000 journey start in a day

:mad:why N why? only america always to be the problem of the world and if you can see that america is just a country in the world a question? are they not human being like us, do they have two head,or are they specially created from god why are they in all placese why are they prove to be in countrol of everything they play politics creating war to any country that is not bow for them. they belive in authocracy power and they countrol the world economy as if they are rulling in there country. i hope this have to stop. i'm here by dedicate my time and my brain to joing felix and Rob Grespi on the move to lead FPA and make sure we achieve our aim.

China has already said they are moving away from the US dollar...they have being selling. Why don't you tell me how much they are holding in their CB. I guarantee it's no where near it was 1-2-3 years ago. And yes, urnaium can be extracted from water and its already been done through cocktail extraction. Why the hell would russia/france make such massive orders if this wasn't possible and cost efficient? If only they saw things the way you do..and they would avoid so much trouble lol...your funny. The orders through Aeola wont be built for years to come...Sure its costly startup but it pays off in the end. Maybe you should do some checking into that before you make bold unsubstantiated claims that only will meet with laughter with anybody reasonably familiar with the real world.
