    Hi there

This is Crazy Cat, with the review of the week.

This week, we were watching 5 economic indicators and only 1 of them hit the trigger. Recently we have really slow weeks...

    1. Wednesday, June 23rd (08:30 New York time) CANADA
The Canadian Core Retail Sales m/m came out at -1.2 versus 0 expected. It was a minimum trigger I was interested to trade, and if that happened, I expected a move of at least 30 pips. Actually we saw a nice spike of over 30 pips but USD/CAD eventually went ever higher. It was a very nice, clean trade with some retracements and then price trading even higher.

I hope you made some pips out of it. Always feel free to share with others how you traded it, and how you personally approached this report.

    Here is the chart:

    That's it. Just one report.

    Have a nice Sunday!

    Summer slowdown?

    Hello Crazycat,

I would appreciate your advice according to possible summer (july/august) slowdown. Since I started with news trading on September last year I don't have personal experience with the PA during these months. However, I was told by traders, that the PA on news (and not on news only) is somehow muted.

I was wondering whether at least the good movers as: AUD Retail Sales/Employment, CAD Employment and Non-farm payrolls perform as usual.
I was researching the historical charts and found for example that AUD Retail Sales acted very strange last July despite a huge deviation.

Please, can you share your experience with us? I think this should be a valuable information, whether we have to be careful or not to worry at all.

    Thank you Crazycat, in advance.

    Hi,

Summer time often times is more predictable resulting in smaller deviations so we may get more "no trades". Typically major reports, if deviate, still should move the currency pair well enough to make some profits. Once a while a major report may not work, and it is typically because some other anticipated or occurring events may shift the focus. For example, there was month that Canadian Employment did not move at all despite of a big deviation, but it was just one-time situation. Prior that one-time failure and after that failure, CA Employment was and still is a very reliable report to trade.

US Non-Farm, CA Employment, UK Retail Sales, AU Employment and possibly retail sales should still work OK most of the time.

    hola

    [Quote = Crazy Cat ; 39656 ] ¡Hola!

[ / quote ]
