Daily Market Commentary for October 10, 2008 from Millennium-Traders.Com

The markets began their bloodletting as early as the pre-market session on this the final trading day of a very, difficult trading week. At the opening bell, the DOW fell below the 7800 mark, shedding nearly 700 points. (read more)

Economic data released today:

Import and Export Prices:
U.S. September Import Prices fell 3.0% compared to consensus of a drop by 2.9%; U.S. September Non-Petroleum Import Prices fell 0.9%; U.S. September Petroleum Import Prices fell 9.0%; U.S. Import Price Drop was largest since April 2003; August Exports came in at $164.72 Billion at a drop by 2.0%; August Imports came in at $223.85 Billion at a drop by 2.4%.

International Trade:
U.S. August Trade Deficit came in at $59.14 Billion compared to consensus Deficit at $58.5 Billion and July Trade Balance Revised to Deficit of $61.31 Billion from Deficit of $62.20 Billion.
