advantage: learn and practice of course
disadvantage: (other than the feeling that its still not your money if you lose it) its still not your if you win it! I don't know if that makes sense... but.

As its only a practice account with fake money, so it does not matter if you can get the profit withdrawn, the main purpose is that you can gain confidence once you start making profit on your demo account with consistency.

Indeed a trader has to start with demo account if he wants to become a good trader in future. If he is not doing trading in a demo account in start then he can lose a lot of money in real account.
