Discuss is for general discussions of a financial company or issues related to companies.

Info is for things like "Has anyone heard of Company X?" or "Is Company X legit or not?"

Compare is for things like "Which of these 2 (or more) companies is best?"

Searching is for things like "Help me pick a broker" or "What's the best VPS out there for trading?"

Problem is for reporting an issue with a company. Please don't just scream "CompanyX is a scam!" It is much more useful to say "I can't withdraw my money from Company X" or "Company Y is not honoring their refund guarantee" in the subject line.
Keep Problem discussions civil and lay out the facts of your case. Your goal should be to get your problem resolved or reported to the regulators, not to see how many insults you can put into the thread.

Hi everyone at Forex Peace Army,

I opened a trading account with eplanetbrokers and picked 1:500 leverage when setting up my account, and it was confirmed and displayed correctly.

But after my trading volume grew (around 5 lots), I realized the broker suddenly cut my leverage down to 1:100 without any prior notice or explanation — even though the platform still shows 1:500 at the top right corner! When I contacted support, they said the broker lowers the leverage as the position size increases.

Has anyone else here experienced something like this?
And do you think this is even legal?

Yes, I have contacted the broker multiple times since this issue occurred about a month ago. I sent several emails and also raised the problem through their live support. Unfortunately, none of my emails have been answered, and after several follow-ups over many days, the support team only responded by saying that "this issue will gradually be resolved in the coming months," without giving any clear or immediate solution.

Live support or call assistant?

I contacted both Live support and call assistant, as well as several emails to the broker itself and their regulators.

Dear Mahinpour,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your experience with eplanet brokers.

We understand your concerns regarding the change in effective leverage on your trading account. Please note that our risk management procedures are designed to ensure a stable and secure trading environment for all clients. As part of these measures, leverage may be adjusted dynamically based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to position size, market volatility, and exposure levels.

While the platform interface may reflect the nominal account leverage (e.g., 1:500), actual margin requirements can be modified in accordance with our internal risk models and may not always be immediately visible in the user interface. This mechanism is in place to help safeguard both client accounts and overall platform integrity.

These policies are outlined in our Terms & Conditions, which clients agree to upon account registration. However, we acknowledge that there may be opportunities to enhance transparency and communication around these adjustments, and your feedback is valuable in that ongoing effort.

If you would like further clarification regarding your specific account or trade history, we encourage you to contact our Compliance team directly at compliance@eplanetbrokers.example
with your account number (please do not share personal information publicly).

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to providing a fair and secure trading experience.

Sincerely,
Compliance Department

@mahinpour, this is actually quite common and is not a scam.

Leverage can be a complex matter and is not always properly understood by traders, as evidenced by your statements. First off, your ACCOUNT leverage is 1:500, however the margin requirement is also a function of the product that you are trading. As per their T&C, Gold is traded at a fixed leverage of 1:333.

Sometimes the leverage on a product will be a function of the product AND the account leverage combined. I even have a broker that will limit exposure to a specific currency like CHF or JPY and it doesn't matter how big your account is, you simply cannot open more of that currency.

There are also brokers that will decrease your leverage as your trade size grows(dynamic leverage), as in your case. Unfortunately, this dynamic leverage is not clear from the brokers website - @eplanet brokers, something for you to look at for sure, as you have already indicated.

@mahinpour, could you please provide an update from your end?

I contacted both Live support and call assistant, as well as several emails to the broker itself and their regulators.
dear mr.mahinpour ,
can you update me on what happened at last with this eplanetbroker? my friend have faced the same issue with them.
he opened 0.5 lots of buy on gold , and when because of this Iran-usa war , and internet cut in by Iran government , all he could do was to hedge the positions with 0.5 sell and lock the trades.

and the broker reduced the leverage to below 1:100 ,actually I have an script that calculated the real leverage on his account , its showing 1:86 ! not even 1:100

not only they reduced 1:500 leverage to below 1:100
they have reduced swaps at a doubled rate each week from his balance , they took of $3600
swap for buy was -80 , for sell +8 $ daily.
so in normal days he was getting positive swap on sell trades , and -42$ total daily swap .
the company used the internet blackout in Iran and started reducing double rates each week !
first week -42$ daily
second week -120$ daily
third week -300 $daily
and 4th week -416$ daily !

when he complained they have returned the negative swaps for some of the sell positions of 1800 from -3600 excessive swap they reduced !

I am now trading for 10 years , have worked with more than 20 different companies not a single company have such method of reducing swap, even they didn't have it till this last month!
