I am new to this board, so please be gentle
I am an ex IT guy (but a published author in systems trading) who used to trade a while back but now I am laid off and while I am looking for work I want to make some extra cash in the forex markets....
I need to navigate through the slew of brokers and sleaze to pick a decent one where I can program their platform to use stops, initiate trades and manage my risk. Many people are very cautious of using any software provided by the forex broker/dealer and vehemently recommend using ONLY 3rd party software.
I am not 100-percent convinced - there are providers such as Metatrader4 which seems to be supported by most brokers but they are a 3rd party service/platform.
Are there any traders here who use some other platform for systems trading than MetaTrader4? If yes, which software/broker you like?
Edit: I am doing a this part as a book research, I used to work for big trading desks on Wall Street firms.
