Have to be a man turning into a hampster. Hard to give meaningful direction to a main character who is, well, an IQ of like 6 (though that may be overestimating on some of the people I have worked with.... (rofl))

If an infected human (hamster-man) someone infects a hamster (awkward, since biting it will probably be fatal), then we could get a man-hamster, complete with an IQ of 6. Of course, if it didn't also mutate and grow, I'm not sure that a 3-4 inch high furball that can walk upright would be very scary.

Well, in obscure lore, sometimes when were-ism transfers to the animal part of the species, the animal gains size, strength and intelligence. Scary to think about, for example, a wolf with animal senses and cunning gaining the rudimentary intelligence, speed and manual dexterity of a man.

Or a hamster with its incredible power to run on a wheel all night gaining human-like abilities.
This could be done as a montage. Start with a 3 inch high man-hamster which keeps growing while running on bigger and bigger wheels.

This movie gets more and more disturbing with each new post.
Make the glowing neon goo some color other than green. Green automotive antifreeze/coolant as a stand in for some secret/radioactive/whatever mutation agent has been so overdone.
