ATFX MD: We Will Introduce Real Share Trading

We caught up with Wei Qiang Zhang to discuss the London-based broker's launch of a new institutional trading desk.

Earlier this month, ATFX announced that it would be launching an institutional trading desk – ATFX Connect.

The London-based broker is not the first retail trading firm to have pivoted towards providing services to institutions.

London Summit 2019 Launches the Latest Era in FX and Fintech – Join Now

Since leverage-capping regulations were introduced just over twelve months ago, several firms have created institutional desks and some larger brokers, such as CMC Markets, have ratcheted up their existing B2B operations.

But unlike some of those other brokers, ATFX is not going to be focusing alone on attracting wealthier individuals or people that qualify as professional clients.

To find out what the broker has planned, Finance Magnates spoke briefly to ATFX UK Managing Director Wei Qiang Zhang. We discussed competition, new products, and looked at who the firm will be targeting with its new institutional desk.

You’ve just launched an institutional desk. Why did you decide to do that?

The firm has been successful in building and maintaining an exceptional retail product offering that it is proud of.

The ATFX brand has a large team of over 300 professionals, with a wealth of knowledge and industry know-how. It has always been the intention of our shareholders and the management team to move the company to another level. By developing our offering, we Will better serve our institutional clients, who will benefit from the same high standard of customer service we've become famous for.

Online FX and CFD broker ATFX has today announced the launch of its new institutional desk offering ATFX Connect.

The latest offering is specifically aimed at professional clients and is part of AT Global Markets (UK) Ltd, which is an established broker based in the City of London. The company recently created an additional layer in order to cater to a different type of demographic within financial services.

Matt Porter, Head of Operations at ATFX Connect commented:

"We feel that with the current market challenges occurring in the Retail arena that this is a good time for AT Global Markets to expand its offering to Institutional clients and to that end we have been developing ATFX Connect."

"We now have a platform that will enable clients to have access to bespoke liquidity dependant on their needs, whether they need early trading on Sunday, to smaller ticket sizes we believe we will be able to cater for all needs, and this is just the start as we continue to develop the product to meet the growing needs of our clients now, and in the future."

ATFX Connect has teamed up with Celer Tech to deliver liquidity solution through the most innovative and technologically advanced platform.

Wei Qiang Zhang, Managing Director of ATFX said:

"The launch of our institutional platform and the technology used allows us to aggregate price feeds from multiple liquidity providers. There are about 20 liquidity providers now. We can configure these to meet the needs of the client, whether they require a retail pool with smaller ticket sizes or a non-bank pool, or even a mix. We stand out in the market by providing solutions for other brokers, so that they can meet their own special requirements such as exchange data."

The Power of Education

By incorporating education into its product offering, online broker ATFX hopes to empower both new and experienced traders to make more informed trading decisions

Financial education is the ultimate investment a trader can make and yet its value is often underestimated. Many enter the world of online brokerage with a certain degree of self-taught knowledge. While this can prove useful, without further guidance, traders are prone to overestimating their own level of expertise. According to research conducted by the OECD, most individuals have a lower level of financial knowledge than they think they do. Trading is a skill just like any other and neglecting to take one’s education seriously poses significant consequences.

Online brokers have become increasingly aware of the knowledge deficit that exists among their clientele and a number of them are beginning to realise that they stand to benefit from providing this much-needed education. World Finance spoke with Ergin Erdemir, Head of Marketing of ATFX about the educational tools it offers to help traders improve their decision-making.

What does ATFX offer to online global investors?

ATFX is a leading online FX/CFD broker. Over the past few years, the platform has grown from strength to strength. The brokerage operates globally, providing exceptional customer service in all major languages.

In a stringent industry, the ATFX brand wants to stand out by offering its clients unique services that provide them with better value for money. This includes ultra-low spreads and zero commission, as well as access to over 200 financial products. Ultimately, we are dedicated to giving clients the best possible trading experience.

Can you explain the recent ESMA regulations and how they’ve affected your product?

Last year, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU financial regulator, introduced a number of restrictions on the marketing, distribution, and sale of CFD products. These were introduced to increase investor protection within the EU. ATFX welcomed the new legislation. We have always put traders’ interests at the forefront of our business, so the implementation of this new regulation – far from being a hindrance – actually supported our brand values.

We want to encourage secure and efficient trading within this highly competitive and volatile sector. To do this, we ensure that our team is there for our clients throughout their trading journey and that they are well-equipped to face the markets. ESMA’s product intervention is significant and it is something the company does not take lightly. However, ATFX adheres to all of the relevant regulations while still offering highly competitive spreads and charging no commission, so as to reduce the cost of trading for our clients.

What educational services does ATFX offer and why did the company decide to introduce them?

Despite the increased protection that clients now benefit from, ATFX has found that many new and existing traders still struggle to comprehend how to enter and navigate financial markets. We realised that we could help our clients overcome this.

ATFX offers a bespoke and tailored service where our team engages with traders on a one-on-one basis. We provide exclusive education not only for beginners but also for experienced traders who want to enhance their knowledge of the financial markets.

ATFX’s Global Chief Market Strategist, Alejandro Zambrano, delivers a daily webinar discussing the current state of the market and providing real-time insights to traders. In addition to this, he personally coaches prospective and existing clients through in-house seminars. In these seminars, he discusses how to manage risk through methods such as stop-loss orders and limit orders, technical analysis, fundamental analysis and trading psychology.

Education is a core part of what we do. ATFX wants its clients to fully understand the basics of trading and what is at stake. We don’t offer a rose-tinted view; instead, we provide accurate, reliable and trustworthy information regarding risk, risk management, trading strategies and in-depth market analysis.

What are ATFX’s ambitions for the future?

ATFX is committed to expanding its services. In particular, we plan to take our education strategy beyond the UK market and into the rest of the European region. Another key goal we are working towards is making our services more accessible. We are currently developing a mobile app that will allow our clients to trade with absolute flexibility. Trading on the move can be difficult, so we hope this new app will allow traders to have full access to their account and be able to manage it even when they are on the go.

ATFX prides itself on its customer-centric service. By dedicating our efforts to enhancing clients’ trading experience, ATFX believes it will continue to be one of the leading FX/CFD brokers.

Is ATFX launching any new service offerings in the immediate future?

ATFX has recently launched its new institutional offering aimed at HNWI, funds, proprietary vehicles, and retail broker aggregates. It’s new offering provides its clients with bespoke liquidity, competitive spreads, and 24-hour pricing. We are dedicated to providing a seamless and effective interface for our institutional clients, with simplicity, speed, and reliability.

ATFX Connect is part of AT Global Markets (UK) Ltd, which is a globally established broker based in the City of London. The company recently created an additional layer in order to cater to a different type of demographic within financial services.

The new fintech venture, which is FCA regulated, will use a world-class aggregator to bridge relationships with banks, brokers, hedge funds, and financial institutions. By signing up to ATFX Connect, clients will be provided with deep pools of liquidity at highly competitive prices.

Wei Qiang Zhang, Managing Director of ATFX said, “The launch of our institutional platform and the technology used allows us to aggregate price feeds from multiple liquidity providers. This has proven to be a significant milestone for ATFX as it upgrades from being a retail-only broker. The future holds significant investments in technology and infrastructure, as it is backed by AT Global Markets, who are major players with a renowned global presence.

Matt Porter, Head of Operations at ATFX Connect commented, “We feel that with the current market challenges occurring in the Retail arena that this is a good time for AT Global Markets to expand its offering to Institutional clients and to that end we have been developing ATFX Connect.

To celebrate the launch of the company’s new fintech venture, it will be hosting an exclusive party open to other institutional brokers, forming an opportunity to network and most importantly, to raise the profile of the brand.

ATFX Raises Money For Breast Cancer

London - October 18, 2019 - ATFX wore pink to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, a charity that funds life-saving research.

The campaign Wear It Pink is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, with communities, schools and offices joining in to raise money for medical research. The event took place during Breast Cancer Awareness month, in October.

ATFX wanted all its staff globally to support the cause, with each of its international offices all participating. Breast cancer exists and it tears the lives of families apart. Breast Cancer Now is a fantastic cause which started in April 2019, after Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Care merged together. ATFX is one hundred per cent behind backing the charity dedicated to funding vital life-saving research.

The money raised by the brand will go towards research working to make medical breakthroughs on how to prevent the disease, how to detect it at a very early stage, and how to treat it effectively at every stage. ATFX wants to be part of the movement that is fighting to save lives from breast cancer.

ATFX UK Managing Director, Wei Qiang Zhang said, “We think ‘Wear It Pink’ is a great opportunity to do something fun outside of the corporate environment whilst still backing a cause that is working towards finding solutions for living with cancer. We also think this is a way of letting people know that they are not on their own and there are also people around them wanting to support them.”

Breast Cancer Now is the largest breast cancer charity in the UK. The charity believes that if everyone takes action now, by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live. ATFX supports this belief and encourages everyone else to also fundraise for this cause.

The London office hosted its very own Pink Party with proceeds that went to Breast Cancer Now. Staff were asked to wear pink and they were invited to take part in the Pink Games prepared by the company.
