I keep trying to figure out what the difference is between a Broker, which seems to require their own software and trading system, or why we separate Trading software from Broker and from trading system in the reviews. You can't have one without the other as far as I can tell so not sure why I am looking at them separately or what exactly the difference is. In other words, what exactly does each thing do that is separate?

It is not much different from comparing all-in-one shops from specialty shops. - they give you choices, and each one has its own pros and cons.

some brokers offer its own charting platform, while others offer a generic charting platform.

it is just an issue of preference and determining what your specific needs are.

A broker accepts your trades - passing them on to their liquidity providers and/or trading against you.

A trading platform is where you enter and monitor your trades. Many (but not all) come with charting capabilities.

A trading system is a method of trading. You can develop your own or find one online.
