NSA's PRISM

What do you all think about NSA's PRISM? Was it naive to think that we all have "Freedom"?

Personally, all the recent revelations about the NSA have me deeply worried about the direction the US government is taking.

So, we've been prevented from opening accounts at offshore brokers.
We have to report all foreign bank accounts where the aggregate value exceeds $10k at any time during the year.
Now the NSA is going to listen to everything we say and monitor everything we do online.

Who protects us from our own government?

I think it's not about "starting from now", but about that now we know about that. According to the news "As part of the order, parties are prohibited from revealing that the NSA or FBI had asked for the records or succeeded in obtaining them. According to the document itself, the order was not set to be declassified until April of 2038". So they have founded this bureau in 80's and I think even if we will come to some conclusion regarding PRISM and surveillance, they will just open up another one, more classified and more hidden.

I really don't know what to think about it. I am not a criminal, nor do I want to engage in any criminal activity, but knowing that someone is watching there (and I'm not a religious person) is something of discomfort.

If you are a US citizen, think about all those unenforced laws at all levels sitting on the books. Add in the vaguely worded laws meant to protect us from terrorists. Now imagine if you cause a problem for a government official at any level who can then ask the NSA to screen EVERYTHING you've ever said on the phone, written in an email, or looked at online. How hard could it be to take a few things out of context and file charges? Since you don't have records this extensive, you would be unlikely to be able to put all these things back into context as part of your defense.

I don't think now it would be paranoid to think that every country/continent (EU/ASIA) has some kind of their own NSA and PRISM and what you are saying in regard of US, can be applied anywhere in the world.. These news really made me to think about my on-line activity and what I keep in the cloud..

Yeah, it's hard to know where to stash the really good porn these days. :p

Big Brother's watching you!)) Well, have you ever see all that programs for tracking the statistic of you web-sitte? It will tell you exactly where people came from, which part of your website they were checking, how long have they stayed there, how many times they came back everything, including the region you're from. And also google Adds that always offer you the stuff according to your location and previous searh requests. If even privatly owned companies can spy on you, than why you were so much suprised about government doing the same? It is nasty, and you hardly can be comfortable with the idea that somebody's tracking you. There are options to mask youself with special programs, proxy servers etc, but it is still possible to figure out who you are. And using of those programs will only attract the attention to you. So...just be careful, rty to use your friends' computers to go to the terrorisctic websites. And as for porn, i think it is just what guvernment would like you to wach in internet. Try reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Don't worry, the new brain implant chips will not only let the NSA know everything you see, but also everything you think.

Remember to think happy, patriotic thoughts or your right to think can be revoked.

And even more than that, government will make you pay for those chips. People will start to compare and say: “hey, my chip is bigger”, and “mine can upload pictures directly to the pentagon main computer”, Perris Hilton will have a special edition D&G super pink chip etc.
