(APOL) - buy
Apollo Group, 2Q profit beat expectations. Profit for the quarter totaled $125.3 mln, or 77 cents per share, compared with a year-earlier loss of $32 mln, or 19 cents per share.

(IVN) - buy
Ivanhoe Mines Ltd, posted a narrower quarterly loss helped by lower expenses. Co reports Q4 EPS of ($0.45) vs ($0.71) a year ago; revs of $3.0 mln vs $0.00 a year ago.

(FUL) - short
H.B. Fuller says 1Q profit shrank 66 percent. Co posted a profit of $6.1 mln, or 13 cents per share, a year ago the co earned $18.2 mln, or 32 cents per share.

(BW) - short
Brush Engineered Materials, lowered its first-quarter revenue outlook citing ongoing economic conditions. It is now forecasting first-quarter revenue of between $127 mln and $137 mln, down from a previous outlook of between $145 mln and $165 mln.

(CELG) - short
Co issues downside guidance; co sees Q1 revs of ~$600 mln vs $647.1 mln First Call consensus. The co expects to achieve results at the lower end of these ranges.

Research In Motion Ltd, opened its online store for BlackBerry applications as it looks to tap a market for cellphone software.

Co is experiencing a dramatic decline in the global economy, without clear visibility as to when the turmoil will end. Near term effects of this dramatic decline have been devastating on the dry cargo shipping industry.

Third day in a row for gains on Wall Street. Overseas markets enjoyed the positive market sentiment as well. The gains worldwide are attributed to anticipation of a positive outcome from the G-20 meeting. Results reported today show that there is a beginning of assistance, for the global economic crisis.

Traders felt the wrath of sludge today as trading activity was very slow with little rection. Economic data released early in the trading session gave little reason for any excitement either long or short. Earnings season goes into full swing next week which could create active trading activity.

Look for more follow through from Friday as the energy stocks shrugged off the Unemployment Data and DVN got a late day upgrade by FBR Capital Markets.

Look for profit taking after the bad news came out on Friday and the stock jumped. Co cut its dividend 86% to 6 cents a share and they also reduced the top end of its projected range for 2009 funds from operations.
