If someone beats you up, the FPA can't file assault charges for you.
If someone steals your wallet, the FPA can't file theft charges for you.
If you are ripped off in a financial scam, the FPA can't file the fraud complaints with regulators or the police for you.
Only victims can make these reports. Every now and then, a regulator or police officer looking for victims of a specific company comes to the FPA. When this happens, I dig out the email addresses of as many victims as possible and send each one of them a message with the contact information of the regulatory investigator or police officer.
